A full screen interface is generally easier to work with than a dumb terminal.
For example to move from one directory to another you can display the parent and
child directories of the current directory and then just point at the one you
want to move to. You can do most basic file operations simply by pointing at
the file. However the interface really excels when running software that
generates graphics (pictures). A prime example is a Computer Aided Design (CAD)
package such as AUTOCAD. Other applications include graphical display of
physics data, both in the form of pictures of the experimental detector complete
with particle tracks and as histograms and scatter plots from the analysis.
