When ready to print a document the file containing it must be sent to the
appropriate printer. Almost all printers are shared so, instead of sending
the file directly, you pass it to a queue manger that organises all
printer requests and sends them one by one to the printer. How you
submit the file depends on:-
- The computer you are logged on to.
- The graphics language used in the file.
- The target printer. Note: not all printers can support all graphics
languages.
- Optional information to the queue manager about how to process the
request.
Depending on how busy the printer is it may be a while before the file is
printed. During this time you can check the queue to see how the file is
progressing and can also cancel the print request.
