Termination of RAL ADS/VTP Tape Service

After March 2008 - There will be no MINOS ADS tape data at RAL

Move all the old data to dCache/Castor?

Funding by GRIDPP of the old RAL tape datastore will cease in March 2008. MINOS have about 1.2TBs worth of data there.

The proposal is to move it all into either dCache or Castor before the service closes assuming that RAL provide a service to perform the transfer. We currently have a 10TB tape allocation in dCache and as of 22 November 2007 only use about 0.8TB so could afford to move it.

Should we also consider moving the ~ 2.9TB of Soudan2 data as well?
