MT Connectors and Clips
MT Connectors
The MT-12 connectors are used in the SCT to join 12 way ribbon fibre at
PP1/PPF0 and PP2. MT12 connectors are also used to mate the 12 way data
and TTC ribbon fibres to the VCSEL and PIN arrays in the ROD. MT8s are
used to mate the 6 way TTC ribbons from the harness at PP1/PPF0. A 12 way
ribbon is split into two 6 way ribbons to join a pair of 6 way ribbons
to one 12 way ribbon close to PP1/PPF0. Non-magnetic versions of the guide
pins have been purchased.
MT Spring Clips
For all MT to MT connections apart from at PP0, MT spring clips will be
used to hold the MT connectors together.
Non-magnetic versions of the spring clip have been produce in BeCu
by EuroPlus. Tests will be performed of these connectors
Infinieon Connectors
We are assesing the use of Infineon connectors for holding the MT connectors
together at PPF0. These are stackable and so are more convenient for the
assembly of a patch panel.
Tests
We plan to perform insertion loss and radiation tests for both the non-magnetic
spring clips and the Infinieon connectors.
